VARICOSE VEINS

  • FAQs

    • Are the abnormal blood vessels of the lower legs and thighs.

    • Major causes are prolonged sitting or standing, and genetics.

  • TYPES

    • Spider veins  (telangiectasias) - VISIBLE TO NAKED EYE

    • Reticular veins (blue green larger veins) - NOT VISIBLE TO NAKED EYE

TRETMENTS:

  • Sclerotherapy injections into leg veins:

    • For most small and medium size veins.

    • Liquid injection type: (2ml) - small or spider veins.

    • Foam injection type: (2ml) - larger reticular veins.

    • Generally 4ml per treatment session acceptable.

    • Up to 4 sessions may be required for full closure of veins

  • Sclerotherapy Medications;

    • Asclera (FDA approved)

    • Glycerin compounded (Non FDA approved)

    • Other Compounded Medication (Non FDA approved)

    • Stockings recommended after injections.

  • Laser & IPL treatments

    • Vascular Laser at 980nm wavelengths.

    • IPL (Intense Pulse Light)
