✚ Hair Growth Cycles & treatments

  • Anagen (growth phase) - stimulated by PRP and PRF therapy, strengthening active hair follicles.
  • Catagen (transition phase) - decreased by PRP and PRF therapy, reduces thinning and falling or hair follicles.
  • Telogen (resting phase) - sleeping hair follicles are activated by RED light therapy and pushed into Anagen growth phase. Evidence has shown that a minimum of 5 red light therapy sessions once a week for 20 minutes each, is required to awaken the sleeping hair folicules into growth phase.

✚ Why Do You have Hair Loss?

  • It is normal to lose about 50 to 100 hairs per day during your telogen hair growth cycle. Hair will grow back when you see a white bulb at the end of a fallen hair strand. But if your hair is falling out in clumps, your loss is more significant. Most men experience some hair loss by age 35 starting on the crown due to androgen hormonal imbalance with excess DHT ( a by-product of testosterone) making hair follicles to stop producing hair. Recently, even males and females in their 20’s have bee seeking hair loss treatment.
  • Female pattern baldness is hereditary and hormonal – but stress, toxins, and poor diets play a role. Women usually don’t go completely bald, two-thirds lose hair after menopause, and less have full hair past age 65.

✚ PRF/P Hair Regenerate Therapy

  • Your blood is mainly composed of plasma that contains red cells, white cells, and platelets. Your platelets contain growth factors like: vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF - AA,AB,BB), transforming growth factor-beta-1 (TGF-β1), Epidermal growth factor (EGF) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) that stimulates damaged cells regeneration.
  • PRF is injected into subdermal skin level of your scalp, producing mild local inflammation that triggers a healing process promoting new blood vessel growth, enhancing circulation, and stimulating your active follicles to regrow hair.
  • The benefit of PRF will start to show after about 6-7 weeks, lasting about 2 years. Your results may vary depending on your age, the severity of your condition, genetic differences, general health and environmental factors.
  • Topical medications like “Minoxidil” or oral medications like “Finasteride” can also be used with PRF/P and red light therapy, to further stimulate hair growth.

✚ Diffeneces of PRP and PRF therapy

  • PRF is a 2nd generation PRP, has high leukocyte and high platelets count embed in fibrin, proven to promote regeneration more effectively, with longer washout time of 3 months.
  • PRP washout time is shorter and gets cleared from body within 1 month.
  • Safe: over half million successful PRP procedures have been performed worldwide.
  • Autologous: from your own blood, no risk of rejection or infection.
  • Organic: PRF is not mixed with any other solution, but is your own organic plasma.
  • Non-surgical: no incisions, scarring, anesthetic, hospital stay, or long recovery time, cost effective compared to surgery.
  • Fast and simple: your procedure takes 30-45 minutes including prep time, and is much faster than any surgical option.

✚ Complications:

  • Slight swelling, pain, bruising or soreness may occur, but this can be minimized using antiseptic soaps during the next several days. You may always contact Dr. Abovian for any additional questions.
  • Be sure to discuss your medical history and any medications you’re take during your consultation, as there are some conditions or medications that may be prevent you from PRF therapy.
